Serve as a JOM Advisor or Guest Editor

The JOM advisor or guest editor solicits and reviews technical articles for JOM. Advisors/guest editors are appointed by each TMS technical committee and are responsible for overseeing papers in one or more journal issues per year, depending on the committee’s preferences.

Why Should You Serve as a JOM Advisor or Guest Editor?

The benefits to your career include the opportunity to:

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in your field
  • Develop leadership, management, and communication skills
  • Build a network of colleagues in your interest area

Time Commitment

Advisors/guest editors commit approximately 30 hours per year to developing a topic for the journal.

How To Get Started

JOM advisors are typically selected by, and act as representatives of, TMS technical committees. The best way to become a JOM advisor is to first  join the TMS technical committee that best suits your interests and volunteer to help with JOM activities. Learn how to join a TMS Technical Committee.
