The TMS Foundation provides funding to numerous programs aimed at encouraging science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) involvement among students. These efforts help ensure the future of the minerals, metals, and materials professions.
Bladesmithing Program
The centerpiece of the TMS Bladesmithing program is a hotly contested competition, held every other year at the TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition, that challenges student teams to forge their own blade. In alternate years, students have the opportunity to present their current work on bladesmithing topics at the TMS Bladesmithing Symposium.

Other Outreach Programs
Other STEM outreach initiatives supported by the TMS Foundation include student participation in the Electronic Materials Conference and ASM Foundation Materials Camps.
