Material Advantage Membership

TMS is a partner in the Material Advantage student membership program, which allows students to access the technical resources, scholarship and grant money, and networking opportunities of four materials-related societies for a single membership fee.

The Material Advantage program is open to undergraduate and graduate students and includes membership in the following societies:
  • TMS
  • The American Ceramic Society
  • ASM International
  • Association for Iron & Steel Technology
Please note that all undergraduate and graduate students wishing to join TMS will become Material Advantage student members. There is no individual TMS student membership program.

Any student currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution majoring in the field of materials science and engineering or a related engineering discipline is eligible to join Material Advantage for only $30 a year.

For a complete list of the TMS member benefits you'll receive through the Material Advantage program, visit the Student Membership page.

Are you a Recent Graduate?

If you have graduated from a recognized university within the past year, you no longer qualify for the Material Advantage student program, but you are eligible to join TMS at no cost.

In addition, graduates within the past three years are eligible for half off the regular member dues rate. This program has been designed to make TMS membership affordable during the early career years, while providing all the benefits and advantages available to a member of TMS.
